Applicant Requirements

Wausau Family Medicine Residency Eligibility Criteria

U.S. Graduates:

• Graduate of a medical school in the United States or Canada accredited by the Liaison Committee on Graduate Medical Education (LCME) – OR - Graduate of a college of osteopathic medicine in the United States accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA).

• Receive medical degree within the last 3 years.

• Pass USMLE/COMLEX Steps 1 and 2 within 2 attempts each and within 3 years.

• Permanent resident or citizen of the United States.

International Medical School Graduates:

• Hold a valid certificate from the Education Council on Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) before the start of residency – OR - have a full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a United States licensing jurisdiction in which they are training.

• Complete at least 12 months of clinical rotations in the US as a medical student – OR – complete one year accredited GME in the United States within the last 3 years. Observerships and externships do not count towards this requirement.

• Receive medical degree within the last 3 years.

• Pass USMLE Steps 1 and 2 within 2 attempts each and within 3 years.

• Permanent resident or citizen of the United States.
