Aspirus Wausau Family Medicine Residency

The Wausau Family Medicine Residency Program offers rigorous, unopposed training in a welcoming community.  We are one of the longest-standing family medicine residency programs in Wisconsin, graduating 200+ physicians.  Our outpatient clinic offers spacious, modern facilities and follows the Patient Centered Medical Home care model. We are supported by Aspirus Wausau Hospital in Wausau, Wisconsin, an award-winning and growing system in Central Wisconsin serving northern and central Wisconsin, northeastern Minnesota, and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

“This program is extremely supportive of their residents and works very hard to create opportunity for an individual to pursue their specific goals.”
-Samantha Rivera, MD, Graduate

Resident Retreat at the top of Rib Mountain State Park, Wausau, Wisconsin

Our program provides challenging experiences in rural medicine, cardiac and medical intensive care, emergency medicine, pediatrics, and obstetrics.

Dedicated faculty provide a supportive learning environment where residents enhance their medical knowledge and skills and gain confidence to succeed as independent clinicians. We encourage residents to construct electives that are meaningful to their own goals and interests. Graduates of our program are well prepared and successful in outpatient family medicine practices, urgent care, and hospitalist medicine.
